Who am I? I'm Jess Evans, PT, DPT, PhD, NCS. I'm a former career academic, educator, physical therapist, neuro nerd, powerlifter, and cat mom! I left my job at a local hospital system craving the autonomy to provide a higher level of care for each and every patient to become their strongest selves. I needed more space, more time, and more resources to deliver the best for my patients--hence, the vision of Headstrong was born.
The best of the evidence. Dr. Jess's experience includes residency training at Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital, working across the continuum of care, from the hospital to the gym, as well as presenting research at hospital-wide grand rounds and at national conferences. Now, as a member of re+active Brain Bytes, she continues to constantly work towards bringing the best evidence-based treatments to the clinic every day.
The tools we need to maximize your recovery & wellness. Whether you want to regain walking ability, resolve dizziness, wheelchair skills, or get back to sports, we have the space and equipment needed for everyone, including body weight-assisted gait training, tools for treating concussion and chronic vestibular conditions, a spacious treatment table with 800-lb capacity, cardiovascular equipment, and a full suite of Rogue strength equipment.
Treatment for functional neurological disorders. We are the only rehab clinic in all of Kalamazoo with experience treating functional neurological disorders, and we take a holistic approach. Dr. Jess will coach you through ways to gradually re-learn movement, manage triggers, reduce pain, and restore your ability to thrive.
Flexible scheduling. Schedule, reschedule, or cancel appointments by phone, by text, or online 24/7, powered by Jane, our easy-to-use scheduling and EMR system. And no, we never charge for missed visits, because life happens.
